STROULGER, Barbara (nee Taylor)
1912 – 2017
Lifetime Ottawa South Resident Barbara Helen Stroulger (nee Taylor) left us peacefully to join her loving husband “C.K.” Ken Stroulger on Saturday, July 15, 2017. Barbara would have been 105 on September 2. She was predeceased by her parents James Hugh Taylor and Mary Buchan Taylor, her brother Hugh Maurice Taylor (M.I.D.) and his wives Helen Ferguson and Verna Cyr. A brother Douglas James Taylor and his wife Margaret Mary Taylor of Ottawa survive as well as their sons James Steven Taylor (Bunni) of Salmo, B.C., his daughters Cathryn (Lynx), Alyx and their mother, Heather Graham (Will) all of Nelson, B.C. Also Brian Clifford Taylor and his wife Maria of Macao, China, and their children James Stead, Breana Maria and Kevin Brian. Barbara was an accountant, teacher, swimmer, skier, played tennis, curled, was a fantastic knitter and played bridge until recently. When Ken was Commodore of the Rideau Canoe Club she spent many summers at regattas. She was a Charter member of the United Church from 1925 onwards and attended Southminster United Church faithfully throughout her life. She has been a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority – Perceptor Alpha Eta Chapter since 1949. Barbara was a member of The International Women’s Club of Ottawa where she was much in demand as a driver since she knew the city so well. She also enjoyed membership in the Women’s Canadian Club. The family sincerely thank the staff at Billingswood Manor for their professional care, concern, compassion and kindness shown to Barbara during her years there. Friends are invited to visit at the Central Chapel of Hulse, Playfair & McGarry, 315 McLeod Street (at O’Connor) on Sunday, July 23, 2017 from 2- 4 p.m. A Service of Remembrance will be held in the Chapel on Monday, July 24 at 11 a.m. with reception following and then interment at Beechwood Cemetery. We are nearing 1200 registered, we can only take 1500 so we are taking down both the on line registration link and the printable form, we are asking that you call to do your registration deposit at this time so we don’t take them if we don’t have a place for you. It will be a bit more trouble depending on how fast folks call in, but we do NOT want to take it and then have to go back and tell you sorry, we are full. The Sheraton still has not given us the info to make reservations there, but we hope shortly and we’ll alert you. We have reserved 200 rooms so far so that should cover it but we will increase it again if need be. If you want to book nights before and or after the convention dates themselves, you will have to call the phone number they will give us or email them as the general reservation line will tell you those dates are full, they are not, that’s just how they are handling it. Sorry, I think it’s dumb but I don’t run the hotels. I never thought I’d have to warn you to get on it if you really wanted to come, but I think I need to. If you call and cannot get through to the right folks, we’ll do all we can to get it done for you.

WooHoo we have a link for the Sheraton if you only want the convention nights, it is www.starwoodmeeting.com/Book/BetaSigmaPhiInternational2016overflow
If you need rooms before or after the convention dates, please email this email, firstname.lastname@example.org They said: Please ask them to include their name, phone number, dates they would like to book, and if they are interested in upgraded options. Our reservation team will get back to them from 8-5pm Monday through Friday. So you should be able to make reservations with the Sheraton now.
