Predeceased by her husband of 52 years Richard. Mother of Beth, Caroline and Steven (Ava). Grandmother of Jeffery, Tanaka, Matthew, Mitchell, Nicole and Emily. Sister-in-law to her dear friend Diane Wickens.
One of the first women to graduate from St. Dunstan's University, graduate of McGill library science program, avid traveller, voracious reader, devoted member of the Catholic Church.
Our mother was an enduring constant to us and she will be sorely missed. She was a tireless provider of support and affection in our lives and she could always be counted on for timely and valuable advice. Her love and pride in her children and grandchildren was strong and demonstrative throughout her long life. Our mother possessed many enviable qualities. She was very intelligent, tenacious, loyal to those who deserved it, generous to friends, family and those in need and possessed of a sharp sense of humour. She was also gifted with an extremely well developed work ethic which allowed her to overcome many obstacles and difficulties that were present in her early years. Her charitable actions have touched many lives positively in and out of her immediate circles and our lives are poorer for her absence. After a long and tiring struggle to maintain her independence in the face of mounting physical difficulties, she now has the rest and peace that she deserves.
We would like to thank the staff of Oak Park Retirement Residence for their kindness and consistency in our mother's excellent care, especially in her last days. We are particularly grateful to her companion Lori Dupont whose presence elevated mom's day every day.
Friends may pay respect at Resurrection of Our Lord Church, on Monday, December 4, 2017 from 9 a.m. until time of Memorial Mass at 10:00 a.m. In memoriam donations to Alzheimer's Society are appreciated.
